Edisto Beach

Last week Sally, Molly, Sam, Sebastian, Mia and I joined up with the Miller clan at Jay's family beach house. The weather was kind of stormy, but the clouds and occasional rain shower were a welcome relief from the heat and humidity. We had a great time playing in the waves and riding Uncle Rick's boat back in the marshes. It's incredibly beautiful back there. I came home Sunday evening and Sally went to Robbinsville, NC to visit Mike and Joyce. Here's a few pics and a video clip.

Lake House Changes

Mom and I (mostly Mom) have been working a lot on the lake house. We want lots of wide open space with funky colors, furniture and art work. Hired a contractor to come and do some of the major work. So far we've completely knocked out the wall separating the living room from the den; opened up the two windows that my Dad had closed up on the wall where the old long couch used to be; removed the cabinets on the wall in the kitchen where the cooktop was and made an island between the kitchen and the den area; moved the fridge to the wall by the laundry room; tore everything out of the basement and the basement bathroom, then tiled the floor, put in a new shower in the corner and put in a pedestal sink; changed out the old baseboards and trim around the doors to match the kind we have at home; Mom's starting to paint the walls the colors of the 'islands mon" and the woodwork white; Mom scraped all the popcorn texture off the ceilings. It looks great. Here's a few pics of the work in progress. Don't tell Nei Nei ... it's a surprise!

First post on the family blog (actually Mom's and mine). Mom hates the name (The Krauss Family Blog) but I think it sounds creative and original. Here's a photo of all of us at the beach last summer (I'm the buff, super tan dude in the red shorts). It's late, I'm tired, to be continued ... Hank
