Mom and I (mostly Mom) have been working a lot on the lake house. We want lots of wide open space with funky colors, furniture and art work. Hired a contractor to come and do some of the major work. So far we've completely knocked out the wall separating the living room from the den; opened up the two windows that my Dad had closed up on the wall where the old long couch used to be; removed the cabinets on the wall in the kitchen where the cooktop was and made an island between the kitchen and the den area; moved the fridge to the wall by the laundry room; tore everything out of the basement and the basement bathroom, then tiled the floor, put in a new shower in the corner and put in a pedestal sink; changed out the old baseboards and trim around the doors to match the kind we have at home; Mom's starting to paint the walls the colors of the 'islands mon" and the woodwork white; Mom scraped all the popcorn texture off the ceilings.
